Tunnel Trail - CLOSED
The trail will be closed during the week for 2 weeks - but open on the weekends. Forestry crew are completing their thinning work!
Public Motorcycle Tracks - CLOSED
Please note that the public tracks are now closed for winter maintenance. Please stay off the tracks to allow the contractor to make necessary repairs. We will advise as soon as these have been opened up again.
Re-sealing works
Contractors will be re-sealing Weld Road the week commencing 8/4/24. There will be stop-go in effect, which may cause minor delays.
Freedom Camping Area
This is just a heads up that the Freedom Camping area will be closing in a few weeks time, to carry out an upgrade to the wastewater treatment plant on site. An update will be provided closer to the time.
KiwiCamp - Also see the note above
A KiwiCamp Facility is located in the main Freedom Camping area by the Arrival Centre, on Whataroa Road. Digital keys to access showers and cooking facilities can be purchased from Council Offices and other local retailers. Access to the public toilets is free. Please note that keys are not available at TECT Park and need to be purchased BEFORE arrival. Please see the KiwiCamp website for further information.
