Te Rerenga Tunnel Trail - OPEN DURING WEEKENDS ONLY
We will be closing the Tunnel Trail on weekdays for the next few weeks (from 02/11/26) to allow contractors to carry out maintenance.
The trail will be open at weekends but please be aware that the ongoing works may make access more difficult until work is complete. Thank you for your patience.
Public Tracks - OPEN
Please note that the forestry works alongside Te Ara o Raho is now complete and the trails are open again. We are aware of some areas that still require some tidying up, but the routes are passable. Thank you for your patience.

Off-Leash Dog Exercise Area - OPEN
Dogs to be leashed in all other public areas.

Penny (Previously KiwiCamp) - OPEN
A Penny (previously KiwiCash) Facility is located in the main Freedom Camping area by the Arrival Centre, on Whataroa Road. Spaces cannot be booked are on a first in first served basis. Digital keys to access showers and cooking facilities can be purchased from Council Offices and other local retailers. Access to the public toilets is free. Please note that keys are not available at TECT Park and need to be purchased BEFORE arrival. Please see the Penny website for further information.
For Emergencies - AED Locations (Defibrillator)
Easy to use AED's can be found in the following locations:
- Ranger Station - Emergency kit bin
- Adrenalin Forest
- Clay Target Club Rooms
- Tauranga Model Aircraft - Hutson Flying Field (Only accessible when the site is open by the club)
